Devendra Banhart rocked the socks off a sold out Village on the 8th of November. It’s taken me a while to get around to posting these. Not having heard any of Banharts work since 2004’s ‘naturalismo’ outing Rejoicing in the Hands, I was pleasantly surprised to find his newer material (mosly songs from the just released Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon) more akin to classic Cream or Doors era rock, than freak folk. Check out this utterly Morrisonesque intro to the track Yanomaninista, off Smokey.
