Al Jazeera shoot

I recently had the pleasure of shooting many of the Irish sections of the Al Jazeera programme ‘The Listening Post’. I haven’t done enough ENG shooting in the past and it was a challenge to say the least, battling DaVinci Resolve’s rendering glitches attempting to convert the UHD footage in time for broadcast. I shoot on the Sony FX6 primarily, and one funky issue with that camera is that LongGOP footage is 8bit, which I do my best to avoid due to the near impossibility of fixing overexposure and mixed lighting issues. So I shot CineEI 10bit LOG and converted the footage to ProRes in post. Not sure what the long term solution to this is honestly – other than using a different camera with more varied codecs. DaVinci rendering glitches in both H.264 and H.265 continue to disappoint.
