Received my first social network spam, a mail through Bebo’s internal messaging system..

‘hey gareth i just noticed ur profile.. i might be visitin friends where ur from… i have more pics on my cam site.. its ‘homepagecam.us/cutie223′ …im ussually online. msg me sometime on there…’

Social networks are in one sense eminently spamable (hell in a sense they are spam generators), and in another – permissions, implicit trust networks, reputations, tagging – are highly spam resistant. It will be interesting to see how simple spam, and far more sophisticated potential networked ‘advertacks’ evolve. How long till we see offers of cash for product recommendations or access to FOF lists of popular social networkers..Or is this happening already?

    Hey just got this message as well! Googled it and came up with this, unfortunately I responded before I came across this! Its really kinda pathetic way of generating networks!! Especially via Bebo which is designed as a social network!

    Yeah, i got the same, followed it and up came a loada pics of some girl in her bra at a webcam! i shut it down immediately but curiosity got the better of me and i tried to check it out again today, didnt work, so i googled it and ended up here! is there anything the bebo people can do to stop this?

    Got the same thing today! Curiousity got the better of me and I tried to check it out. It was a girl in her bra so how could I resist. Thanks for the website anyway but what would this do? I mean is it harmfull to your comp or just some stupid thing?

    I just received it a few moments ago.
    I recall seeing them in yahoo chat rooms.. How sad it’s now came to bebo as has viruses..

    Most of Ireland seem to be in it.

    if you go on2 the site you’ll just get junk spam and itll slow down your pc a TINY bit, nuthin 2 serious tho. Just outta curiosity does any1 remember the name of the person that sent it 2 em? mine was “jorytb31978”.

    yeah got the same thing as all of you, but i checked it like most and the site is up and running. So if it was shut down then its back. But while it is bad to get and very annoying we all have to admit she wasn’t that bad lookin.
    Oh and not sure if its just a coincidence or just because bebo is so damn popular in ireland but a lot of the messages above seem to have been left by people in Ireland. Has anyone outside of Ireland gotten it yet?
