Choices was created by Dead Medium Productions for Dublin City FM, and funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland with the Television Licence Fee.  The programme was written and directed by Gareth Stack, and produced by Heather McLeod. The program starred Kieran Roche, Dylan Jones, Aishlinn O’Byrne, Terri Fitzgerald and Katie McCann. Music was by Dermot Byrne. The show was recorded at Dublin City FM in 2013. All sound effects used were public domain or available under a creative commons licence, full details below.

Katie McCann

Katie is a recent graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting. Theatre credits include a recent adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Match Girl written and performed by Katie and directed by Karl Shiels (The Yule Tide Tales at Theatre Upstairs), Town/Country (Smock Alley Theatre), SLUTS (Wegethighonthis Collective Irish Tour and Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Dancing at Lughnasa, Hamlet, 4.48 Psychosis (UCD Dramsoc), The Importance of Being Earnest (Wexford Arts Centre). Upcoming projects include Macbeth with Fast Intent Theatre Company at Smock Alley Theatre and the Collaborations Festival 2014 at Smock Alley Theatre.

Dylan Jones

Dylan is a graduate of Bull Alley college of Drama and is currently taking a BA in Jazz music at Newpark Music Centre. Dylan is an active actor and composer and is very happy to be a part of Choices in his first voice acting roll. Recent productions in which Dylan has both acted in and written an original score include The Devils as Urbain Grandier (Civic theatre Tallaght), Reality Shows as Dancer (Project Arts Centre), King Henry IV as Poins (Civic), God as Phidipides (Civic), Death as The Maniac (Civic). Dylan has also performed in The Hamlet of Stepney Green as Mr. Black (Project Arts Centre), Grow as Trent (The New Theatre), Evita as Magaldi (Civic) and Robin Hood as the Sheriff of Nottingham (site specific). He has also composed scores for stagings of My Second Self, King Henry V, Macbeth, The Robert Emmet Experience and the short films Camera Shy, Second Take and Clouded Conscience. Dylan is a founding member of The Virgin Eclectic theatre company.

Aishlinn O’Byrne

Aislinn graduated from The Gaiety School of Acting full time course last June and since then has appeared in The Dublin Fringe Festival with Gonzo Theatre’s critically acclaimed play; ‘The Birthday Man’. She has recently performed a monologue written by June Considine in ‘Under My Bed’, a show compiled of pieces written in aid of Barnardos Children’s Charity. Aislinn is currently in rehearsals for a new play called ‘The Coping Class’ which will be on in The Teacher’s Club from the 9th to the 15th of March and her upcoming projects include work on three original pieces in ‘Collaborations’ which will be on in Smock Alley Theatre this February and March. They are; ‘…And Other Four Letter Words’ which she is helping to produce, and ‘The Story of Two Lonely Hearts’ and ‘The Calling’ which she will be performing in. ‘Choices’ was Aislinn’s first radio play since finishing college and she loved the experience and hopes to continue to do more voice work in the future.

Teri Fitzgerald

Teri FitzGerald graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting in June 2013. She is a founding member of The Cup Theatre Company and performed her own work ‘How The Red Haired Raver Got Her Rhythm Back’ as part of their ‘Gaslights’ cabaret in Theatre Upstairs in August. She also presented her own writing ‘A Lesson in When to Quit’ in Smock Alley Theatre in February. Other credits include ‘King John’ directed by Aoife Spillane-Hinks in the Project Cube in August. Teri played the title role in Viko Nikci’s short film ‘Anna’. In the new year, Teri is currently touring ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Romeo & Juliet’ in Cork, Kildare, Waterford and Dublin.

Gareth Stack

Gareth is a writer / director and performer based in Dublin. His production company Dead Medium have created a variety of BAI funded scripted radio series, including Any Other Dublin for DCFM, and The Emerald Arts for Near FM. Gareth appeared in the debut feature film from Irish director Donal Foreman, Out Of Here in 2013, and starred in the radio drama series The Urblin Chronicles and On The Line in 2010. He regularly provides short story narrations for the award winning podcasts Starship Sofa, Tales To Terrify and Crime City Central. His written work has been featured in a variety of publications including Analogue Music Magazine, Albedo One and Blue Ireland. He is currently producing a documentary series exploring the world of experimental and collaborative electronic music for Near FM.

Heather MacLeod

Heather is an 80’s Kid. Born, bred and educated in Glasgow where she began her career path in the music and media fields. She is a radio and music producer. Currently the Production Manager with 103.2 Dublin City FM where she also presents the music show “Off The Record” on Fridays from 9-10pm. When she’s not in the studio, she can be found producing music, organising gigs, preparing documentaries, flying somewhere or in a music venue at some gig or other. Currently working on some more independent radio productions including “Choices” and “Pavee Paths” and hopes to finally record the debut EP/ album in 2014.
